Tywyn Beach is long and Dog friendly. The stunning beach is full of character ans stretches from the Avon Dysynni to the North and Aberdovey to the South. In the summer you can walk all the way from Tywyn to Aberdovey, along the beautiful sandy beach. Only a small middle section of this beach is reserved for families during the summer time. This section is where the promenade is so your walk won’t be interrupted.

In March 2011 the coastal defence scheme was completed. The scheme was designed to reduce the risk of flooding for 78 homes and various businesses. It has also transformed the beach from its dilapidated condition to a fully improved amenity with greater access to the beach with extended slipways and disabled ramps, refurbished viewing shelters and sea wall repairs.
Close to 50,000 tonnes of rock were delivered by sea and road to complete the rock groynes as well as the Recycled timber from Scotland that was used for the timber groynes.
Our beach is absolutely full of character. At low tide the beach comes to life. You will see the vast sandy areas uncovered and intricate rock pools. The perfect place for the little ones to explore but be careful as it gets slippy.
If you are really lucky, you will get to see the all allusive Anchor. An old trawler Anchor was found buried in the sand many years ago. It is rarely visible but if you are in the right place at the right time, you might get lucky. The Anchor is only visible for a short time before shifting sands cover it over again.
